Nobody gets it. Folks are all in a tizzy because Tiki Barber had the audacity to lash back at critics who’ve questioned his decision to confirm his intention to retire at the end of the current NFL season. ESPN’s Michael Irvin called him a “quitter,” and said the decision hampers Barber’s ability to be a team leader. Another ESPN talker, Tom Jackson, called the news a “distraction.” That sentiment was echoed by top NFL writer Gary Myers of the New York Daily News.
Yesterday, on his satellite radio talk show, Barber called the trio “idiots” because they ahd not spoken to him, not his teammates and were thus not qualified to Barber showed fire and wit in his tirade: “Don’t make blanket assumptions about [my retirement]. And obviously, as was evidenced [Monday] night, I am a huge distraction to the New York Giants.”
On Monday night, the Giants spanked the Cowboys.
Now this is an idiot.
Today, arrows flew again, back and forth, forth and back. Where’s Rodney Kinf when we need him??
Micheal, Tom and G, don’t you get what Tiki’s doing? He’d strutting his stuff for his second-career broadcasting gig. He showing that he’s not afraid to speak his mind. He’s showing he can get ratings!
As are they…
I loved Tiki’s strike. I’m bored with athletes who are so PC they seem to have no thoughts, passions or needs. If (when) he gets his next seven-figure gig as a TV talker, I’ll at least know I’ll get something real rather than something real canned.
This is all a job hustle and everyone bit like they were bobbing for apples.
