Baseball’s $51.1 Million Man: Daisuke Matsuzaka

The value of this card just skyrocketed.

I do not get it. The Boston Red Sox confirmed Tuesday that they paid $51.1 million simply for the right to negotiate with Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. I am befuddled. That’s more than the entire roster payroll of five major-league teams

This figure does not include what it may cost to simply sign the player. I know good pitching beats good hitting….

But am I missing something?
